I am very grateful to be able not to just dream my dreams, but also to live and experience them!"
In autumn 2002, Susan Orus will release her brand-new album "Don't Give Up!". Her debut album "Susan Orus", which came out toward the end of 2000, was a highly acclaimed and incredibly strong album with ten very personal and heart-felt songs - all containing authentic stories from the realms of her own life. Her style could be defined as a crossover of modern country, pop and rock - in genre-terms better known as "New American Music".
Susan is a singer with her own style and a sound that captures her audience and goes straight to the heart. Susan's device is: whoever risks, wins. Now, the second time around, she's staking everything on one card: "During the making of the first album I achieved important goals for myself. I developed my voice and my musical language even further. For the new album I wanted to capture these steps in a musical way."
"Don't Give Up!" was produced in February 2002 in Nashville together with Jeffrey Steele and Tom Harding. And once again, the songs depict the various situations of love, life and letting go. Yearning, dreamy or even glanderous rock ballads with strong melodies are on the agenda - once heard, never forgotten. Susan Orus is a strong woman who knows exactly what she wants. She is absolutely convinced that "New American Music" has got a great future in Europe. The new album will be in the stores on Friday, September 13, 2002.
Why Nashville Tennessee?
For more than two years, Susan Orus looked hard for an appropriate songwriter. She then found him in the person of Jeffrey Steele who is an experienced singer, vocal coach and in the meantime has also become one of Susan's close friends. As one of the most sought-after songwriters in the USA, he also wrote and produced most of the songs on the first album. Together with famous names from the American music scene, he composes for Susan Orus. Tom Harding is the man at the helm of the mixing desk. Harding has also worked with Dolly Parton, John Denver and ZZ Top.
Inspired by male and female singers on the American music circuit, Susan Orus unites various styles of music, mixing elements from genres as diverse as pop, latin, rock and country into a new musical style. It is therefore rather difficult to categorize her music: "Music doesn't have limits! Through my own music, I try to share my boundless joy of life and express my visions."
Biography
Susan Orus was born in 1969 under the sign of Aquarius in Toggenburg. When her three elderly brothers founded a band, she came into contact with music at a very early age. With two guitars and a girlfriend, she busked on the streets at the tender age of 13. Afterwards she then gave her first live appearances as the lead singer of the school band she joined. After school, Susan completed a marketing and PR course and continued singing in various different groups. In 1997, she finally decided to dedicate her life to music. This was when she discovered country music and, in 1994, even won a competition called "Gold Sporn" for up and coming female country singers. In December 1997 she came third in the Swiss final for the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "L'enfant des étoiles". Due to her work with many different artists, she at last found the path to her own style: "New American Music". In September 1999 she produced her first album together with Jeffrey Steele and Tom Harding.
